I'm a singer/songwriter based in Portland, OR. I write songs about things that happen to me, my friends, my family, and my thoughts. My goal is to connect with you.
I'm inspired by DIY artists who take matters into their own hands and don't wait for anyone to do their work for them... artists like Tom Misch, Jordan Rakei, and Bruno Major. I'm also inspired by soul singer/songwriter Bill Withers because I think he found the sweet spot between groove and tasteful, poignant songwriting. John Mayer made me want to write songs and Ed Sheeran made me realize I need to be writing all the time.
I'm very excited for you to hear my first release, Green, the most of which I recorded in my apartment. I produced it with my musical brother Salvatore Manalo, who also helped with the recording and did all of the mixing and mastering. My intention for releasing Green was to have it be a snapshot of my life from when I was 18/19 years old, when I had a very optimistic, if naive, view on life and love. It's knowing that you're young and inexperienced, but still being attentive and eager to learn and grow.
But here's a little secret... the version of the EP I released here is incomplete. If you head over to my website at www.evanknappmusic.com/music you can check out the full version. There's an extra song and the tunes are presented in a different order that helps better tell my story.
Thanks for checking me out.
