After self-recording and releasing their album 'Hundred Skeletons' in March 2017, Gilbert, Arizona's Phantom Party was already working on new music.
The songs that filled that album were being played by the indie rock trio (consisting of vocalist/guitarist Joshua Capati, bassist Matthew Slusser, and drummer Austin Cooper) since their inception in March 2015. For their new EP, 'A Year in Bed', the band enlisted the help of Matt Aldawood of Troubled Minds. This EP contains two songs and shows a departure from the surf influence that the band cited for most of their existence.
2017 has been a big year for Phantom Party. They won an award for Best New Band by YabYum Music Publication--the first award they received in their lifespan, they were featured on their first national list (Good Deed Seats Bands to Watch of 2017), they self-released their first album 'Hundred Skeletons' in a DIY fashion, made their own music video for the song "Tunnel of Love" off of the album, hit the road to play Colorado for the first time, and played Slab City, California, known as "the last free place on Earth."
'A Year in Bed' sheds the Morrissey influence and trades reverb for overdrive. 'A Year in Bed' was recorded over one long day with Matt Aldawood. It consists of two songs--"Holy Roller" and "Peach Honeymoon". "Holy Roller" has also been featured on local radio stations ALT AZ 93.3 and KWSS 93.9 FM.
'A Year in Bed' was released on November 10, 2017.
