Lois are a four-piece rock and roll band from Nottingham comprising John Selby, Rich Spencer, Lee Matysiak and Adrian Maguire.
Influenced by some of the greatest British and US bands ranging from the 60s and early 70s to the best of today’s talent, Lois have crafted a characteristic sound all of their own that blends a retro-tinged coolness with a fresh and exciting modern edge.
Their debut album ‘The Polperro Horse Bus Company’ was released independently in 2014 via Neon Grove Music and the band have steadily increased a large and loyal following in their hometown. They supported their first LP by playing support slots to established signed bands such as The Moons, The Rifles, Mark Morriss and Cast and playing their own headline shows at well-respected venues around the City.
On attracting the attention of BBC Radio stalwart DJ Mark Radcliffe, he championed the band on both his BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music shows in the UK, spinning their tunes to large national audiences regularly and noting that “Lois have managed to pull off that most difficult of tricks - sounding authentically retro whilst simultaneously being absolutely contemporary. Nice one lads”. They have also have been featured on Tom Robinson’s prestigious BBC Introducing show on 6 Music.
2018 sees the band record and release their second album 'Guns of the Governor' and continue to build on an ever-growing fan base by playing more headline shows in Nottingham and beyond.
