Recently hailed by 6Music DJ Chris Hawkins as a “mix of the best indie bands of the past 20 years like Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Catfish but with their own fresh and fiery stamp”, The Manatees have been buzzing across the airwaves in 2020 with support from BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq and Chris Hawkins and Radio X’s John Kennedy. The band have also received acclaim from online tastemakers like Record of the Day, Our Culture and Tipping Point whilst featuring on Sky Sports highly coveted ‘Goals of the Week’ sequence on Soccer AM and BT TV’s main channel music video playlist.
Citing influences from as far as Arctic Monkeys ‘AM’ album to Billie Eilish, The Manatees are carving out their own brand of contemporary rock music. Latest single ‘Know You’ shows this, amalgamating a hip-hop inspired beat with shimmering guitar riffs and transcendent vocals. The Manatees are set to follow up the release with a socially distanced headline show at Southampton’s 1865 venue in November before their biggest tour yet early next year with dates across the UK and a support slot with Neon Waltz at Omeara in London.
