Josh Belville is a musician, actor, writer, podcaster, dungeon master, and general creative type. He was born in Nampa, Idaho to a musical family; his father and two older brothers played in bands while he, as a youngster, turned more toward acting.
It wasn't until the his later years as an undergraduate at Boise State University that he picked up a guitar and began to write music.
His first real written songs (that were any good at least) were part of a The Decemberists satire album called "Under the Muck," by fictional band The Nogood Boyos. Josh was part of the Decemberists now-extinct message board, /orate, for some years, and a user there posted the fictional album art. Josh then decided to write the songs for the album, which included the song most associated with Josh, "Here, I Found Your Stupid Bike," which was itself a satirical response to The Decemberists' Apology Song. People on the forum responded positively toward the album, which set Josh on the path to more songwriting.
Josh also began participating in February Album Writing Month, or FAWM, in February of 2008, which is where he became friends with many talented musicians, including Charlie Cheney, Isaac Quatorze, Evin Wolverton, and Phil Norman (among others). His collaboration with Kerry Goulder, On Rare Occasions, is featured on the FAWM.ORG 2010 compilation album.
Josh currently lives in Portland, Oregon with his cat Jowers. He continues to write music whenever he feels like it.
