Presley has captured the attention of many with these early releases - from his first radio play from Zane Lowe as his next hype on Radio 1 - to Cerys Matthews, John Kennedy, Radio X Playlists and Radio 2.
Q Magazine gave his debut ****'s calling it.. 'an impressive, striking debut..' and Rolling Stone covering the release in France in it's top 5 releases.
His roots are firmly in the blues but over time Presley has nurtured his sound to be a hybrid of a few genres. His influences range from John Coltrane to Duke Gawood, Tom Waits to The Kills, Mogwai and Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Daniel Lanois and more. With that in mind, it doesn't fit into just one category. It is it's own beast.
John plays guitar, pedalsteel, bass and horns. He has also played for Duke Garwood, Ed Harcourt and Smoke Fairies.
"...a ferocious belly deep sound but somehow tender with it.." The Guardian
"...A beautiful noise that at once grips and beguiles, as befits a natural born storyteller.." The Quietus
"...A searing, soulful oasis of calm amongst the torrent of noise..' The Times
"...The bluesy rock'n'rollers tune is a recklessly fuzzy garage rock tune.." The Independent
"..The chattering classes are silenced by musical brilliance.." Team Rock
".. Music needs a new dark lord.." Phil Taggart, BBC Radio 1
