Fight the Sun is the story of life coming full circle, maybe coincidences, perhaps fate.
Formed from the ashes of a million bands lost to the sands of time, halfway through the second decade of the millennium, the band that recorded Fight the Suns debut EP met in the prior decade, with the usual hopes and dreams of young budding rock musicians. But with differing goals and aspirations, you’ve probably figured out already, that it all came to nothing. Fast forward to 2016 and a chance meeting one rainy weeknight in a small rock n roll bar in Melbourne’s inner northern suburbs. “ That guy looks familiar” said one third of Fight to Sun to the second third. “Is that…?” “yeah it is”…..” Wanna join a band?”
And into the picture comes Rone and line up complete.
Skip forward again to 2017 and Fight the Sun are ensconced in Melbourne’s Studios in the City (now Homesurgery), Tom Larkin, producer extraordinaire and drummer for NZ legends Shihad, at the helm, ably assisted by Samuel K Sproull and Jon Grace, and Fight the Sun are laying down four slices of powerful, dirty, aggressive rock n roll but with a layer of sing along hooks and a twist of post millennial modern alternative rock. Like a mutated, Frankensteined conglomeration of a late 60’s American muscle car and a recent model Aston Martin. The EP not only captures Fight the Suns ever evolving song-craft and knack for a driving riff and a bitter sweet rock melody but the energy and controlled chaos of their live show.
