Blaeser – aka, the Calgary-based folk rock multi-instrumentalist Taylor Lang - was born not quite in the middle of nowhere, Saskatchewan, but no more than a few miles away from it.
Growing up on an isolated farm, he started playing music at a young age to pass the time, and never really stopped.
Supported by a backing band to supplement his usual solo appearances, blaeser began to make strong appearances in late 2017, before coming out strong in 2018 with an Albertan songwriting nomination and two festival slots in his home province. He finished the year off by wrapping up work on his debut album, Songs & Others Like Them. Released in April 2019, the album is a lyrically profound, emotionally intense journey into loss and looking back, while also maintaining a bold sense of anticipation for everything the future may hold - all coloured by the threads woven by a unique and introspective life.
Showcasing blaeser's strengths in arrangements and lyricism, as well as his distinct blend of percussive, folk, and fingerstyle guitar playing, the stories of lives torn between past and present are those echoed all across the Canadian landscape, making each performance of them – no matter the setting or the size - a genuine connection between a storyteller and his audience.
