Straylings formed soon after Dana Zeera had relocated from Bahrain to the UK. Soon drawn to the thriving live scene of North London and eventually crossing paths with English guitarist Oliver Drake, who had recently parted ways with former Rough Trade signing The Veils.
Straylings return with new LP ‘Wild Medicine’. Gaining support from BBC 6's Lauren Laverne, whilst Clash Magazine describe their latest offering as “a fine example of the artistry that makes Straylings so beguiling.. a beautiful, resolutely independent offering, one that could only come from Straylings"
Previously gaining critical acclaim for their debut LP ‘Entertainment On Foreign Grounds’ from the likes of BBC’s Steve Lamacq, The VPME (album of the year) and Clash Magazine who described it as; “Full of glaring drama, comparable to PJ Harvey". The band toured extensively, becoming a frequent presence around London, and selling out headline shows around the city. Artrocker described their show as; “Compelling…Straylings serve up cinematic heartbreak with a side dose of opium…somewhere between Mazzy Star and Jefferson Airplane”
Distinctively recogniseable, with Middle-Eastern influences brought to bear by Dana, combining the arrangements of musician/producer Oliver. Wurlitzer, fuzz-guitar & synths form a psychedelic wrap from which Zeera’s enigmatic vocal floats spectrally. A sound which draws to mind Grace Slick, elements of Aladin Sane era Bowie & even conjures up the organ infused spirit of the Doors
