Ami Yares is a New Jersey-born, world traveling folk musician with a knack for making music that moves you physically, spiritually and politically.
Influenced by the spectrum of Americana music, Ami's music merges his New Jersey roots into Middle Eastern culture and politics in a yet-to-be-named fusion of styles. His concerts invite the audience to participate as much as appreciate the worldly musical selections from the east to west and back again. To Ami, concerts provide an opportunity to create community, interact and rejoice in the sounds of music. Ami plays 12-string acoustic guitar and has appeared on stage with Philly local favorites Lizanne Knott and John Flynn as well as folk icon, Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary. As Peter Yarrow once likened Ami’s music as a link in a long chain of folks singers, “Ami is one of Woody Guthrie’s children.”
