In 2018, Milwaukee rewarded Shle's dedication and cross-cultural appeal with the Best Hip Hop Artist Award (Shepherd Express) and Best Independent Release (Radio Milwaukee). In 2019, Shle released her eagerly anticipated EP Tampons explaining:
“Rap is a male dominated industry...and my story is so far off the rails in comparison...I’m bi racial, I’m gay, I’m a woman. (All) things that are not often ‘seen’ in this industry...here I am (wearing) a red t-shirt, confident among my male counterparts…and (I’m) STILL unseen. I am CONSTANTLY over looked and under estimated because I’m a woman. My character is CONSTANTLY judged because I’m gay. My voice is CONSTANTLY challenged because I’m bi racial.
So what’s more feminine than a tampon? The flow is HEAVY.. and my approach is aggressive...I’m gonna continue to press the boundaries.. talk about things that make us uncomfortable...cuz I’m here for change”
2020 will continue Shle's momentum with a collection of collaborative works through her Summer of Shle (SOS) series, touring, and a solo album that promises to push boundaries and redefine the independent music scene.
