Singles and EPs
“Unwind” is, in some ways, an onomatopoeia. A collection of four Americana-inspired stories of complex love both internal and external, the second EP by folk-pop trio Boy Band, aka HaleyJane Rose, Ana Dratz, and Jen Fischer, is as much an exhale as it is a deep breath of quiet strength. “Hard to Love” begins as a twangy, delicate reflection that builds to a raucous midpoint of claps, stomps and harmonies. “Body Clocks” layers on vocals bathed in natural reverb, while “Paper Cuts” provides a catchy, country-driven look at a relationship with parts not irreparable. Finally, the title track works to help us fully accept that, at the end of the day, we all want the same shit. And we should do our best to help each other find it. “Unwind” follows Boy Band’s first EP, “Begin”, and their followup single - the electro-pop tinged “Still” - to conclude a three year period of writing, recording and performing these songs. The EP places a tattered, imperfect bow on these experiences, and reminds listeners that the river is indeed wide, no matter how shallow it appears.
