In 2005, Kristina's album In The Earth’s Fading Light earned “Best Vermont Album of the Year” from the Barre-Montpelier Times Argus newspaper. Kristina went on to complete a program in audio engineering through the Berklee School of Music & received her studio production certificate in 2007.
Kristina was awarded “Best Songwriter of 2013” by the same media outlet for her release: Wyoming Territory. This album was supported in its development by the Ucross Foundation & Brush Creek artist residencies of Wyoming.
Music editor Dan Bolles of Vermont's Seven Days has this to say about her newest solo album, Horse Thief (2015):
"Horse Thief is an examination of love and aging inspired and informed by a lifetime spent both battling and embracing the harshness and isolation of rural Vermont. Like love, Stykos' unforgiving wilds both require and return strength. But they will also, like love and time, exact that very strength from you. It is a complex idea, brilliantly explored on the songwriter's latest, and likely greatest, record."
Other albums include two collaborations: Beautiful Blood (2013) written and performed with singer-songwriter Steve Mayone of Brooklyn NY; and Raven (2011) co-produced with Grammy-nominated pianist Philip Aaberg of Montana. Among other projects, she is currently producing an album with Ariel Zevon, due for release in 2017.
