The friendship which united them as a result of having been at l’Escolania de Montserrat choir school at Montserrat at the same time coupled with the longing to continue making music together led six musicians to found Cor Cererols in 2018.
The choir takes its name from another musician who was also once a choirboy at Montserrat: Joan Cererols, a Catalan Baroque composer and one of the fathers of "l’Escola de Montserrat".
The choir additionally came about with the determination and passion to recover, interpret and popularise choral music from the 15th century to contemporary composers, in particular the early music they have known and sung since they were very young, together with all the composers from other periods who have yet to be recovered. To this end and alongside the six founding musicians, the choir calls on a number of regular contributors depending on the features of each repertoire.
Cor Cererols has performed at the Montserrat International Organ Festival 2019, at the Barberà del Vallès Organ Festival and at the Royal Monastery of Pedralbes Easter Concert. It has also taken part in the celebration of liturgical events at the Monastery of Montserrat. In the near future, the choir will debut at the Auditori de Barcelona, with a program dedicated to the figure of the composer Joan Marc (1582 - 1658).
