For the next few weeks, they isolated themselves in their home studio with nothing except a mutual love of Beach House, Cults, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and evocative storytelling lyricism of The National and Patsy Cline. Recording together wasn’t entirely new, a few years prior they had made an album as Ghostel with a friend providing vocals. Knowles, previously a producer and guitarist for UK shoegaze band Amusement Parks On Fire and live sound engineer for bands like Cigarettes After Sex, Phoebe Bridgers, Rostam, BANKS, and Sharon Van Etten, recorded the project while Farmer became a co-writer and bassist for the first time. Ghostel would later have a song prominently featured in the trailer for Oscar nominated film, “Mustang.”
The Know's debut EP which was produced, mixed, and mastered by Knowles while Farmer handled the visuals further reiterates their wish to craft something of their own. In addition, Knowles played all of the instruments and Farmer took on lead vocals for the first time. Their first single "143" has received unanimous praise from FLOOD, Earmilk, Popdust, The 405 and more.
