Introducing TAPES, the beautifully harmonious collaboration between Milo Gore and FARE. The duo created TAPES whilst rehearsing their track ‘Lazy Wednesdays’ when a friend made the suggestion of developing the sound as a Lo-Fi acoustic side project.
They would later make the decision to record onto tape. By combining Milo’s natural ability for poetic storytelling, and FARE’s organic lyricism and melodies, the pair have developed a truly aesthetic sound that has captured the attention of many. Their debut EP ‘Dead Dogs & Sad Songs’, released just a few months after forming, has generated 100,000 monthly listeners with track reaching 460,000 plays.
Their latest single ‘Last Cigarette’ encompasses that prosperous feeling of making lemonade when life is only giving you lemons. It’s about finding that brightness through the dark, and telling yourself ‘life goes on again’. With influences including Grouper, Bon Iver, Frankie Cosmos and Mouldy Peaches, TAPES combines aspects of ambient dream pop and duel rustic folk harmonies, that delivers a raw and genuine performance. Last Cigarette will be released 16th October 2018.
Last Cigarette was recorded directly onto tape in FARE’s bedroom, with initial synths and production edits by rising producer Jay Beale, followed by a final master by Zach O’Loughlin of Zaudio Productions.
