Based in Paris, OFFSHORE DRILLS is a collaborative instrumental band mainly producing smoky tunes and soundtracks for video projects.
The soul of their music comes from the heavily reverberated guitars of french arranger Thomas Desjardin and the venomous vibrations of moroccan violin player Anas Lamtaouech.
Each song comes from a collaboration with additional musicians who would give their imput and enrich the project. Such as Olivier Vallery (Silver Heads Quartet) on the jazzy saxophone and Mathieu Bosshardt (ZeroMicron) processing the drums.
After releasing a first EP "RED BLUES" (2016) , OFFSHORE DRILLS focused on a debut album "BREATH." which was released on June 2018. In this 9 tracks album, the band develops its sound: heavy bass lines, field reccordings, echoing guitars, elegant saxophones, stormy violins and dark moody atmospheres... The band also brought new recruits on board who came with their own sound and background: Romain Mariani (Twin arrows) on the keyboards, Nathan Brunet on the solo guitars and Man'go on the beatbox.
"BREATH" is kind of a genre-breaking piece, standing between soft psych rock, jazz fusion, heavy blues, trip-hop and dub vibrations. The record contains powerful themes that allows its listeners to freely aknowledge the stories beside each song.
Listening to OFFSHORE DRILLS is like entering to a new world of unmapped soundscapes and this debute album is simply a mindblowing journey through experimentation.
Enjoy, and stay Tuned
