Icelandic Singer/songwriter Eliza Newman has been a formidable figure on the Icelandic music scene ever since her band Kolrassa Krókríðandi/Bellatrix burst on to the scenes many moons ago .Since then she has been a busy indeed writing and performing everything from opera to Eurovison hits with a short stop at Eyjafjallajökull, the song that became an over night internet sensation when things went a bit crazy over the Eyjafjallajökull eruption in 2010. Elíza has released four solo albums to critical acclaim worldwide and her latest album Straumhvörf a mix of feisty indie rock and folky melancholia has been very well received in Iceland with two nominations for the Icelandic Music awards last year as Album of the Year and, Song of the year and all round top reviews.She was based in London for many years as a musician but is now back in Iceland with her new album Stramhvörf. Straumhvörf has been met with great review, radio play and two nominations for the Icelandic music awards for album of the year and song of the year!
