Artistically, his alternative pop sound focusses on emotional intensity combining powerful guitar based hooks with elements of dance music creating a sound fit for any emotionally charged party goer. Family road trips saw the influences of Fleetwood Mac, the Rolling Stones and James Taylor ingrained in Sam from a young age while Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and the 1975 fill the void today. His highly energetic live act is what he enjoys most, making use of drum pads, synthesizers, guitars and vocals, carefully balancing flair and intimacy.
Sam placed 3rd in New Zealand’s Smokefree Rockquest competition in 2018 out of over 800 acts while having been named Southland’s Junior Entertainer of the Year in 2017. He performed at the NZ Parliament (Beehive) in August 2018 and played at Cromwell’s highly anticipated River Range Music Festival in 2019.
Sam’s eclectic new single ‘Shut The Door’ and debut music video is due March 1st 2019 and is a funky combination of dance components and songwriting prowess - a refreshing addition to the New Zealand music scene.
