Tyler Young was one of the fortunate kids to witness Daft Punk’s spaceship touch down at Coachella. As he watched their performance, he became obsessed with electronic music. From there, Tyler would spend every free moment listening to dance music (with artists like Justice, Green Velvet, deadmau5 and Kaskade making the most impression), digging for underground and classic records alike, and teaching himself how to DJ and produce. The young Los Angeles-based house music producer and DJ grew up in a musical family with hip-hop as the parental music of choice in the household. The new electronic sounds were a change to cuts by NWA, 2Pac, Snoop Dogg and Eminem that were in regular rotation. Young went on to attend a few years at SFU. While there, he DJ’d house parties and undergrounds every weekend and put in studio time to hone his producer skills. Feeling that school wasn’t the right direction for him, he returned to Los Angeles and went into the studio full time as the pandemic hit. Tyler signed with the Los Angeles based label Thrive Music in late 2020 and will be kicking off 2021 with his debut single "My Time" in February. Co-written with highly sought-after UK vocalist Hayley May (Joel Corry's breakthrough single "Sorry", M-22's "How Does It Feel"), “My Time” is groovy and filled with funky basslines, plucky strings, and shimmering synths, layered over Hayley's hair-raising vocals. Tyler shines on his debut release providing a taste of what's to come.
