Torgny Amdam is an artist, composer and producer from Oslo, Norway. Inspired by punk, hip hop, folk – and a broad range of electronic music – the former hardcore singer delivers expressive energy and heartfelt aggression, but also escapist melancholy with singer Maria Due.
His career in music started as a singer and lyricist in several hardcore bands whom he recorded and toured with throughout his adolescence and twenties. At the tender age of seventeen Amdam fronted Onward, one of the first straight edge bands in Europe. Then he started Amulet, playing both drums and singing, and moved on to become a raging frontman in the same band. In 2010 he debuted as a solo artist under the name Torgny and has put out three albums and two EPs: «Chameleon Days» (2010), «Oslo, 31 august EP» (2011), «Trilogy EP» (2012), «Oil Panic» (2013) and «Cut & Run» (2017): An EP trilogy eventually forming an album. His music video triptych «Trilogy» – documenting the life of Norwegian youth – gained critical acclaim for it’s sociological curiosity and poetic glow. Torgny has also written music for theatre and film, most notably «Oslo 31, august» and «Thelma». Coming from punk rock and skateboarding, and having grown up with artists of all kinds in a thriving creative scene in the capitol of Norway, Torgny has become a genre defying artist who ventures into unsuspected collaborations and territory.
