Aside from a litany of life failures and digressions, John Steven Morgan of WRECHE is best known for hauling a real piano around Oakland, CA and breaking his fingers over it several hours at a time for money.
He has performed at Monterey Jazz Festivals 54 & 56 and the SF Davies Symphony Hall - Wattis Room, and has been featured in the SF Chronicle for guerilla performances of his original compositions. WRECHE is Morgan’s expression and observation of the world from his place in it - incorporating and re-interpreting the piano within the metal genre. The eponymous album saw him join forces with Barret Baumgart on drums, to both effusively ecstatic and violently negative reactions. ‘All my dreams came true,’ Wreche’s second entry, sees Morgan alone, sinking himself in the ocean as deep as it will go.
