His piano-driven rock fuses funk, punk, rock, alternative, disco and hip-hop with socially conscious tongue-in-cheek lyrics. His influences include classic piano rockers Elton John, Billy Joel, Randy Newman, Ben Folds, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder; political singer-songwriters like U2, The Smiths, Sting, Peter Gabriel and Green Day and genre-bending artists like Beck, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Flight of the Conchords.
An environmental activist by day, aj kickstarted his musical recording journey in 2014, recording one cover song for each year he’s been alive on SoundCloud, logging more than 200,000 streams to date. That led to crowdfunding the release of the cover album Coffeehouse in Hamburg in 2015.
In 2016, he released his first album of original songs, Lost In America, which blended country rock, blues and alternative. This electic collection of songs runs the gamut with lyrics tackling romantic ghosts, the coming climate apocalypse, the weight of suicide, America's firearms epidemic, beer-fueled bromances and why Jesus wasn't a Republican.
He is currently chief songwriter for the band M4TR (Music 4 The Revolution) releasing a concept album inspired by the Resistance in 2018.
