Music has been the most important part of Melanie's life since she was a young girl. Her influences range from Aretha Franklin, Etta James and P!nk to Bruno Mars and Jack Garratt.
She previously performed in choirs (supporting Mercury prize winner ESKA & The Matthew Herbert Big Band; on BBC1 TV show Last Choir Standing), in bands and now as a solo artist.
With a classical background, she learned to play the French horn and piano at an early age while growing up in the USA and England. As a horn player, Melanie performed in ensembles at venues like The Royal Albert Hall (London), Symphony Hall (Birmingham), twice at Carnegie Hall (New York City) and went on to receive a BMus (Hons) degree in classical music from Goldsmiths, University of London.
