Formed after the dissolution of the Models, noisy post-punks Rema-Rema were a short-lived 4AD quintet that consisted of Mick Allen (bass/vocals), Marco Pirroni (guitar), Mark Cox (keyboards), Gary Asquith (guitar/vocals), and Dorothy Max Prior (drums).
The Wheel in the Roses EP, the band's lone release, featured one side of studio recordings and a flip side of live material. It was released in April 1980, a couple months after the band split. In 1984, 4AD head Ivo Watts-Russell's This Mortal Coil covered the EP's "Fond Affections" (with Cox on synthesizer). A year later, Big Black covered the group's "Rema-Rema." Pirroni found fame with Adam and the Ants. Prior (who released a 1980 single as Dorothy on the Industrial label) delved into ballroom dancing, as well as sporadic drumming slots, including a brief association with Psychic TV. Asquith, Allen, and Cox formed Mass, another 4AD act. Cox and Allen's later involvements were with the Wolfgang Press, and Asquith with Renegade Soundwave. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
