Born in Los Angeles and raised in Portland, Oregon, Wes is a culmination of the West Coast spirit. Once homeless, he initially channeled his efforts into sports, through which he became a scholarship track and field athlete at the University of Michigan.
Yet, music was always in his blood. In fact, his first memory was his father playing him the song Beat It by Michael Jackson. This exposure turned into Wes’ passion when a middle school friend taught him how to use Garageband, Audacity, and other relatively simple music software to record. Wes was then shown how to post songs online, and he fell in love with the process of creating music. After speaking with his father during the summer before his sophomore year of college, Wes discovered that he could use music as a platform to spread a positive message and differentiate himself from mainstream cliches in the current state of music. After being encouraged to pursue music full time, he decided to sacrifice his athletic career to focus on his passion. His music evokes emotions from love to anger and touches on the experience of being human.
