Klamydia (Chlamydia) are a Finnish D.I.Y. punk rock band formed in 1988. Their oft-mentioned inspirations are bands like the Ramones, Misfits and Motörhead.
The band is celebrating their 30-year-anniversary this year. Current line-up for the last 18 years is: Vesku-vocals, Riku-drums, Jakke-guitar and Severi-bass. Klamydia has sold over 700 000 records over the years, including three number-one albums and five number-one singles on the Finnish Official charts. Among the number-ones, Klamydia has also had lots of top-three records on the charts - many of them selling gold or platinum. Klamydia is an active tour band- over 2000 gigs in homeland during the years. The band has also been successful in Germany, releasing split singles there and touring with such German punk bands as Die Schwarzen Schafe and Die Lokalmatadore. Some gigs with these bands also in Switzerland, Czech Republic and Austria. In 2001 Klamydia were presented with a prestigious cultural award by their hometown of Vaasa, which caused considerable consternation in more traditional art circles. The bandmembers chuckled at the attention while enjoying the improved sales and interest in the band. So after 18 albums, 6 compilations, 6 live-albums and a numerous amount of singles and EP's - This autumn 2018 Klamydia will release a brand new studio album. New single, "Sotaa vai rakkautta?"
