In 2016, Deane composed the soundtrack for the inspirational children’s film, Change for Chimps, featuring Dr. Jane Goodall. The film toured film festivals across North America and won an award for "Most Uplifting Film." Deane also wrote the score for the short film, Legacy of War, honoring WWII veterans and those who fight for our freedom today.
Deane plays the piano and other keyboards entirely by ear. In his twenties, he regularly entertained people with visual impairments. Using the raised keys as a type of Braille, he found he could teach piano to people who could not see. His first album, On the Black Keys and by Ear, was produced to raise money for the blind. After its release, Deane entertained in Europe, where he met and played for Hollywood legend, Greta Garbo.
Deane’s songs have been performed in Toronto at Massey Hall, Nathan Phillip Square, the CNE and at St. James Cathedral. His next album, Soundtracks in the Sand, will be released in the fall of 2018.
