From Ballinrobe, Mayo, Ireland, Con Murphy has spent many years developing his sound as an Indie-folk
singer-songwriter, drawing inspiration from the likes
of The Waterboys, The Frames and Bell X1.
His latest release entitled 'Condemned The Lyricist' is a tribute to those he works alongside in his music therapy work in his native county and features the sublime Vyvienne Long on cello. His previous releases include 5-track EP ‘The Fjord’ - a selection of folk songs that includes
his catchy pop debut ‘Don’t Freak Out,’ and delves deeper to explore the delicate sounds of folk ballads
with each song - from the melancholy folk ballad “Heavens Table” made up of ethereal piano,
atmospheric guitar and poignant lyrics - flowing into uplifting and
romantic piano track “Patiently Wait”.
The final track and namesake of the EP ‘The Fjord’ was written on a trip to Iceland, Inspired by the stories from the
Icelandic eastern fjords about love and wonder Con wove them together with gentle melodies and
production that give you a sense of homely nostalgia. his follow up single Chocolate Pills offers an alt 80's synth pop vibe and acts as a metaphor for compassion in mental health. "This track is heavily influenced by my love for all things 80's & 90's,especially The Cure, although it has a strong modern vibe."
