British pop/indie electronic singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Holly Lapsley Fletcher, aka Låpsley, was born and raised in Southport, Merseyside.
Fletcher spent her formative years in the classical music world, and is proficient on oboe, piano, and guitar. She began honing her chops in the pop music world while still in her early teens, performing with multiple bands before striking out on her own. Her intimate and ethereal vocals and evocative electronic ambient compositions first caught the attention of the public in 2014 after garnering over a million listens with her home-recorded debut EP on SoundCloud. A gig at the BBC Introducing stage at the Glastonbury Festival, along with good word of mouth from BBC Radio DJ's Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe, brought her further recognition, resulting in a deal with XL Recordings, which issued her Understudy EP in January 2015. Featuring her U.K. Top 10 single "Hurt Me" and drawing focus to her melismatic vocal delivery, Låpsley's debut full-length album, Long Way Home, arrived in March 2016. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
