Emilie Blom joined Dutch rock band The Scene as bassist and backing vocalist in 1986. The band 'cut their teeth’ playing the vibrant club circuit of the mid-80’s and soon grew to become a major crowd-puller, headlining at big venues and festivals in both Holland and Belgium building up a loyal fan base along the way. The band folded when its founder, frontman and composer Thé Lau tragically died of cancer in 2015. With The Scene at an end, Emilie set out on a new solo career from scratch under the moniker MIMILE.
That venture soon developed into a permanent line-up of top Dutch musicians, featuring, Stephan van der Meijden (drums) and Sander Panhuysen (guitar). The new group released MIMILE’s second, studio-recorded album, STORNOWAY, in February 2018. Amsterdam born, but with firm family roots in Scotland, Emilie was always mesmerised by music from an early age. Nurturing this passion, she spent her childhood years learning to play piano and flute, leading on to her early teens, where she was gripped by the heady vibe of punk and new wave. These were formative years for Emilie, and she joined her first band on bass at the age of 13. "I had eclectic tastes," she recalls. "I still do. I embrace it all."
