Independent pop singer-songwriter Charlee Remitz grew up in Montana suburbia beneath the canopy of an oppressively contentious family.
At some point, her voice just occurred to her.
For most of her high school career, her family’s dramatic fall out shadowed her every move. Words occurred to her in the much the same way her voice once had. Leading into her senior year, Remitz began writing music. She opposed the naivety of her peers, but remained influenced by young love, writing of her woes and broken heart.
Remitz moved to Nashville in 2014 and, despite the success of her first EP, These Veins, lost herself to somatic symptom disorder. Heavy weight gain and chronic worrying enticed her move back home after only six months.
These Veins opened many doors, one of which resulted in an even bigger move to Los Angeles. There she wrote and recorded her debut album Bright White Trims, deemed “a fine debut, if not among the finest from this genre in 2015,” by No Depression.
Remitz followed this release with another EP, Saints Until Fridays. Mature and brave in its lyricism, it fell flat due to her exhaustion over chasing a dream with little recognition.
At the start of 2017, Remitz hired a new producer who understood her sound needed to be sparing and generous, so as to elevate and not drown her smooth pop vocals and clever melodies.
Though 2017 was her quietest year yet, a 50-pound weight-loss and a feature with 24hrs hinted Remitz was back to take 2018 by storm.
