The trio began writing synth-tinged indie rock songs that blended multi-part harmonies, layered instrumentation, live-plus programmed percussion and lyrical romanticism. Pianist Rachel Mousie (A Delicate Motor) and drummer / EDM producer Matthew Risher (Apoq79) soon joined them, and the band evolved into a balanced, 5-way songwriting collaborative.
In August, 2016, Phasmids played their first show at The Listing Loon in Cincinnati; other local and regional dates followed. Their debut EP, 'Phasmids' was recorded at The Lodge (Dayton, KY) and in their own studio over the course of 2017. It was soft-released in May, 2018.
Following the EP's completion, Mousie left the project to focus on graduate school. Risher moved to full-time keyboardist, and the drummer's throne was filled by John Kathman (The Minor Leagues, Albino Vega). Two follow-up LPs are being written and recorded.
