Growing up playing the Irish traditional fiddle and piano before teaching herself the guitar at 11, LAOISE began writing at the age of 15 where she soon began exploring the shiny buoyancy electronics can offer. Her lyrics draw inspiration from feelings of anxiety and angst, many of which reveal inclinations of hopelessness and despair, which she defiantly contrasts with confidence and complacency.
Taking her cues from the silky production of acts like NAO, Melanie Martinez and Skott but also deeply inspired by household names such as Kate Bush and David Bowie, LAOISE has now crafted her skill to become a successful artist in her own right. RTÉ 2FM Radio have selected her a ‘Rising Artist of 2018’, her track ‘Rich’ was featured on RTEOne’s ‘Striking Out’ and she’s been praised by a multitude of tastemakers in the UK.
Debut single ‘YOU’, a song originally a college assignment, peaked at #4 in the Spotify UK Viral 50. Debut EP ‘Halfway’ that was produced using one ramshackle microphone and an old laptop has received a X of noteworthy praise from established blogs such as Notion Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, Buzzfeed, Nialler9, The 405 and more. Along the way, LAOISE has appeared at Forbidden Fruit, Electric Picnic, 2000Trees and Other Voices festivals.
LAOISE’s new single ‘Bother’ is out now and her 2nd EP is due in the Spring
