Johnny's latest album, Until You Get There was released in March 2017 and was produced by BC Country Music Association Producer of the Year, Tom McKillip, featuring BC's best studio musicians. It's a follow-up to JPJ's self-produced and independently released Roots-Canadiana album, Prairie Roots Grow Deep, which garnered a 2006 BCCMA nomination for Album of the Year.
Before Prairie Roots, JPJ helped front two bands. First, the alt-country band, The nerV in the early '90's, then the Midnight Harvesters, when in 1998, they released their album State of Mind, and earned a Group of the Year nomination at that year's BCCMA Awards. Both The nerV and the Midnight Harvesters were able to perform on the same stage as country greats like Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Billy Ray Cyrus, The Sky Diggers and many more at major music festivals like Merritt Mountain, Hootenanny in the Hills, and Rock & Twang.
JPJ now releases new music as Son of John, a traditional country/roots duo he formed with his eldest son, Javan Johnson.
