Gavin’s lifelong obsession with music began as a teenager in Stockport. Following a two-year stint as guitarist for indie band Slaphappy, he moved to Hull in 1996. There he joined indie pop band The Emus and was a resident DJ at the University’s alternative/indie nights.
In 1998, he co-founded Satisfaction – a soul, funk and retro pop night – a legacy which continued in Hull until 2012, after Gavin moved to Birmingham in 2001. In 2004, he performed with Frank Sidebottom
(the late Chris Sievey) at Variety is Back! and played guitar for roots/rockabilly band Rhino and the Ranters
from 2013 to 2015.
