"A splendid, soulful voyage to the darkest corners of Americana." -Sal Cataldi, NYS Music
Sarah King inhabits the dark side of Americana, creating gritty murder ballads and feminist anthems anchored by her atmospheric voice and rhythmic blues guitar. “My influences are bourbon and bad decisions,” she explains when asked about her gothic country style. On her debut solo EP "The Hour" (released March 19, 2021) King stands up to the idea that women should just smile and be quiet, exploring how righteous anger, revenge, and fear can actually lead to empowerment.
The Hour, recorded and produced by Simone Felice and David Baron (The Lumineers, Matt Maeson, Jade Bird) at Sun Mountain Studio in the Catskills, establishes singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sarah King as an artist who isn’t afraid to speak her mind and dig deep into the shadows of human experience to create songs of hypnotizing darkness.
All songs (with the exception of the cover of War Pigs) are one-stop licensing, no samples.
