Nicholas Phan is an American tenor. He was raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he studied voice at the University of Michigan School of Music.
He also studied at the Manhattan School of Music. In opera, Phan has performed in many productions with the Los Angeles Opera, the Houston Grand Opera, the Chicago Opera Theater, the Seattle Opera, the Portland Opera, and the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, among other groups. He has also appeared in concerts with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Philharmonia Orchestra. Phan is the founder and artistic director of the Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago, which is focused on art songs and vocal music with chamber ensembles. Phan has recorded for CSO Resound and Avie.
