Others are an LA-based alternative rock band with eclectic musical influences.
Their latest album "Under the Fire" is a Rock-and-Roll soundtrack for the volatile year of 2020 -- a vibrant record about confronting DISTRESS, both social (caged emigrant children, the addictive nature of social media, political oppression, BLM), and personal (losing loved ones, depression/anxiety, a conversation with Death).
As the lyrics explore variations of a single theme "distress", the music adventurously does the same with "Rock-and-Roll" -- wide-ranging influences include: Car Seat Headrest, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder, Black Flag, Pixies, Queen, Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Radiohead.
Others' debut self-titled record invites the listener out for drinks with the band and their friends. There are 11 eclectic indie-rock songs and dialogue interludes wherein alcohol lubricates conversation, as friends discuss heartbreak, college, capitalism, family, and attempt to define ambiguous-yet-common words like "love" and "happiness".
Following the unexpected death of Josh's uncle Pete, they released "Youngest Son" -- an emotional, diary-esque album about grieving and remembering, echoing artists like Sufjan Stevens and Beach House.
Months later, after Josh's breakup with a long-term girlfriend, they released 3 singles "Strangers", "Sunken City" and "Rhumba".
