Jonah Carden is a West Virginia-based singer/songwriter whose Southern rock sound is infused with soul, honesty, and depth.
He's released two solo albums to date and performs regularly in the Appalachian area as a one-man acoustic act.
His self-produced 2018 album, Last Train Home, features 12 melodic and acoustically-driven original songs that cover topics like the American dream, hitchhiking, and following one’s truth. His earthy, baritone voice has an unmistakable Southern flavor and his complex guitar-playing offers some insight into his wide range of influences. Covering everything from intricate Lindsey Buckingham-inspired finger picking to distorted Hendrix-esque solos and everything in between.
Born into a creative and musical family, his mother is an artist and his father played drums and sang in a rock band since before he was born. He grew up watching and listening to his Dad’s band practice in the family basement. At 12, he was given his first electric guitar as a Christmas gift from his parents. At 14, he was earning money playing bars in a cover band and as a late teen fronted the heavy metal band Southern Flame. They released two albums in the mid-“2000s” before they eventually disbanded. Jonah is also a multi-instrumentalist who plays nearly every instrument on his recordings (minus the drums). His first album, The Great Depression (2010), has developed a cult following over the years with it’s downtrodden, multi-layered acoustic sound.
