Though their sound comes straight out of the spacy prog and proto-metal of the '70s, Swedish band Horisont formed in 2006.
Comprised of singer Axel Söderberg, guitarists Charles Van Loo and Kristofer Möller, bassist Magnus Delborg, and drummer Pontus Jordan, the band conjures the sounds of rock and metal's age of exploration with sprawling compilations that evoke the classical influences of Yes and Jethro Tull with the drive and desire of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. The band's first album, Tva Sidor Av Horisonten, arrived on Crusher Records in 2009. From there the band continued to push the boundaries of fuzzy, revivalist psych rock with two back-to-back albums, 2012's Second Assault and 2013's Time Warriors, both of which were issued via Metal Blade. The self-described "space saga" Odyssey arrived in 2015, followed in 2017 by About Time, their first outing for Century Media. ~ Gregory Heaney, Rovi
