Berlin-based musician/producer Matthias Grübel mainly works as a composer for theatre productions. Over the years the sound of his solo projects has morphed into a moving blend of contemporary electronic music on the one side and the more experimental textures rooted in his stage music work on the other - always with a focus on a 'listening' approach in arrangements and production.
Having used various monikers before, 2014's THE LONGEST YEAR IN HISTORY (Audiobulb Records) marked Grübel's first release using his real name. Reviewing the EP, Textura magazine stated that "in a better world, the rollicking [track] CLOSE would find its trippy blend of tribal groove and fragmented vocal melodies sitting atop the singles chart." In 2020 Matthias presents his new work on the TruthTable label: MATTERS OF STABILITY, a sharp 5-track EP, refining and developing his very free way of thinking electronic music, diving deep into sound design, textural layering and even the occasional guitar solo. Igloo Magazine found MATTERS OF STABILITY "ultimately breathes life into IDM’s exploratory range", while The-Further heard a "hybrid between electronic music and sound experimentation" with "free and unique structure, no rules except creativity!"
