thank you. I hope I can do the same for you.
I grew up in Newbury Park, CA, which is a little suburb outside of Los Angeles. my mom made me take piano lessons starting when I was 8, and I usually hated practicing. I sang in church as a kid. my dad had me transcribe some music in Cakewalk. I didn't really think anything of it.
when I was 15 or 16 and for some reason I can't recall I saved up my money and bought a cheap keyboard (Yamaha PSR-e413). I still have it. it had an accompaniment feature which played drums and a bass and some guitar chords with whatever you played on the keys. so that was pretty neat. it also had a recording function that allowed you to layer different instruments together. 5 songs, 5 tracks per song, 1 clip per track, no editing besides re-recording. so I made 5 songs.
it was around this time that I discovered DAWs. I messed around in LMMS and Mixcraft studio, and if you dig around hard enough on the internet you might be able to find some stuff I made at the time. GarageBand is where I really started to get it. I wrote a few more songs, and then at some point I decided to do music full time. the rest is history.
