Sydney based DJ & Producer Gary Afterlife (Aka Shane Stapylton) began his musical adventure taking Piano and Drum lessons for many years.
This passion was also fueled by the influence of a local community radio station playing underground dance music back in 2000. Moving the dial through static, faint sounds of Rave and House music could be heard. Getting a taste of these new underground styles of music stirred up a passion, and he begun to experiment with sounds of his own. The inspiration continued to flow from attending underground raves such as Back to basics, Fantasia, hyperspeed & more. Experiencing the culture to the music this opened the door to djing and he begun collecting vinyl of his favorite tracks.
Shane began producing Rave music under the alias of ‘ElectriX’ and had his very first vinyl pressed and released on Executive records in 2004. He also won a remix competition on FINRG recordings remixing DJ RX’s tune ‘Hellfire’ receiving Merch, signed Vinyls and decent exposure. He begun challenging himself to other genres and started producing Trance & Progressive House. From then the new alias of ‘Gary Afterlife’ was born. His first EP release was on the prominent label Abora Recordings including an official remix from trance legend Mike Foyle. Releases still continue to this day on a variety of different labels. Some include Nueva, Elliptical Sun and Sunstate receiving support from Markus Schulz, Pedro-Del-Mar, DJ Feel, Roger Shah, The Grand Sound and many more.
