The Recks are an alternative five piece band hailing from the tiny Isle of Sark, whose genre-bending repertoire includes gypsy jazz, folk, reggae, indie, hip-hop and rock.
Formed in 2012 from a motley collection of misfits on an Island 3 miles x 1.5 miles long, the band set out to write contemporary multi-genre music with a roots-based foundation and quickly amassed a full set of lively, infectious songs that began to set crowds alight at packed out Festival tents across the UK and France.
Positive reviews followed from MTV News, Q Magazine and Drowned in Sound, with the latter declaring them "the new kings of schizophrenic folk".
Their debut single "Lovers In The Night" was released in 2014 and followed up with ''Low Life'' in 2016. Both tracks are taken from their long awaited debut album "The Beast From The Sea". Produced by Jason Boshoff (David Gray, Basement Jaxx, Lisa Hannigan) in various locations around Sark, it is scheduled for release in 2018.
After early interest from BBC Introducing, The Recks took Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey by storm, earning them rave reviews for their performance at Jersey Live 2012 and again in 2013.
With such an explosive first year under their belts, The Recks went on to conquer a wider audience with two UK tours (2013/2014), performances at Isle of Wight Festival (2014/2015), Boomtown Fair (2014/2015), Boardmasters (2013), in France at Mardi Zicos (2013) and support slots on the tours of Babyhead and Yes Sir Boss (2014).
