Berlin-based Israeli composer Gilad Hochman is widely considered as an original voice in the international music scene and as one of Israel's most prominent young composers. He is the winner of various international competitions, such as the 2017 S&R Washington Award, as well as being Israel's youngest ever composer to win the prestigious Prime Minister's Award, at the age of 24.
Mr. Hochman's oeuvre includes a range of works, regularly commissioned and performed by leading musicians, orchestras, choirs and ensembles worldwide in venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the German Parliament, Carnegie Hall, Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Tel Aviv's Opera House, Hong Kong's Academy for Performing Arts, London's St James's Piccadilly and Jerusalem's Henry Crown Symphony Hall, to name a few.
Described as “a rising star in the classical music world” by France 24, Hochman's music has also been praised by the New York Times, the BBC, Der Tagesspiegel and Ha'aretz, among numerous other publications. It is uniquely merging classical music traditions with those connected to Jewish music and culture, and to his Israeli origin, while striving for a balance between rational and emotional expressions.
