bassist Al Burian enjoyed the diversion and suggested he and Laney work on the tunes outside of the band. They started working with drummer Timothy Remis and soon the collection of songs turned into the repertoire of the new band Challenger. Laney and Burian don't consider it a side project as much as a new band that could coexist with Milemarker
