These eclectic, garage-y groovesters wear their hearts on their sleeves and gnash their teeth through earnest and energetic songs. Harkening back to some the disaffected 90's guitar sounds of artists like Built to Spill and Elliott Smith, The Nova Darlings infuse sugared folk melodies with infectious grooves and jagged sonics. Taking cues from 00's rock bands such as The Strokes and Death Cab for Cutie, the group brings a sense of melancholy alongside a silliness - and spiritual absurdism - to the genre of indie rock. Lead singer Mackin Carroll often wears a dress on stage - inflecting a sense of duality. The band is also somewhat known for having vegetables strewn about the stage during live shows.
