Brianna Ibarra is a singer-songwriter and arranger born and raised in Los Angeles. She is both known as a jazz-influenced soul/folk artist, and a jazz vocalist.
Brianna Ibarra started creating music on the piano at the age of 6 and started singing Motown hits and Beatles tunes at 10 at her grandparents house in City Terrace, East Los Angeles. Her writing is highly influenced by her rich love for literature. When she was young she’d write songs based on plays by Tennessee Williams and the life of Samuel Beckett, for example. Musically, she is highly influenced by her jazz heroes Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Sara Vaughan, Herbie Hancock and more. Her appreciation for all styles of music blends into a sonic melting pot of genres, spanning from jazz, to R&B to folk and rock. Her songwriting influences include Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Esperanza Spalding, Bon Iver, Kimbra and D’angelo.
In 2013, she sang with The Monterey Jazz Festival’s Next Generation Jazz Orchestra and toured the East Coast, performing at venues such as the Montreal Jazz Festival Main Stage. She performs currently with her band in venues all around Los Angeles, including The Mint LA, Bar 20 at the Grafton Hotel, No Future Cafe, and The Federal Bar North Hollywood. Brianna plans to have a West Coast tour and play a sold out show in Los Angeles in 2019 and 2020. In 2018, Brianna released her debut EP titled “Red Skies.” It features songs she has written over the past 7 years.
