LYYN is an independent pop singer and songwriter based in Brooklyn.
Born to first generation Chinese immigrants, she grew up near Chicago and classically trained in piano and the oboe from age 7. Her skillful lyricism and infectious melodies are crafted into compelling narratives with intense emotions that linger and swell. She takes raw, unspoken feelings and conveys them through genre-bending, futuristic beats and her signature earthy vocals.
LYYN’s solo work takes inspiration from the smooth vibrato of Lana Del Rey, the moody guitars of Cocteau Twins and Roy Orbison, and the left-of-center pop of Robyn. Shaped by her upbringing on classical, indie rock and Chinese folk music, LYYN is forging a sound at once familiar and completely her own.
